National Human Rights Organisation (NHRO) is an independent human rights, public awareness, and social impact organisation established in January 2020 with the objective of promoting constitutional awareness, human dignity, civic responsibility, institutional cooperation, and sustainable social development across India.
Founded by a group of socially committed trustees and professionals, NHRO was created with the vision of developing a responsible and constructive platform that works towards awareness, support, advocacy, and collaborative engagement on issues affecting society and public welfare.
Since its inception, the organisation has gradually expanded its operational presence across multiple states of India through members, volunteers, legal professionals, social workers, and organisational representatives working collectively towards public awareness and community support initiatives.
NHRO actively promotes lawful, democratic, non-violent, and solution-oriented approaches while encouraging constructive engagement between citizens, institutions, administration, and stakeholders.
To establish NHRO as one of India's most credible and impactful human rights and public policy organisations contributing towards justice, dignity, constitutional awareness, institutional cooperation, sustainable development, and nation-building while fostering meaningful national and international engagement.

National Human Rights Organisation (NHRO) was established in January 2020 as a registered public-interest trust with the vision of promoting human dignity, constitutional awareness, and responsible citizenship. Soon after its establishment, the COVID-19 pandemic created an unprecedented humanitarian challenge, leading NHRO to rapidly mobilise volunteers and community networks for relief support. Through initiatives focused on food assistance, health support, essential supplies, and public welfare, NHRO began its journey as a community-focused organisation responding to immediate social needs across multiple regions.
Building upon its humanitarian response during the pandemic, NHRO transitioned from emergency relief towards structured public engagement and awareness initiatives. The organisation launched major initiatives including Humanity Kitchen and Project SAFE, expanding its work in community support, health awareness, and social welfare.
The year also marked NHRO's emergence as a platform for national dialogue with the launch of the Azad Bharat Conclave, creating a space for conversations around leadership, governance, youth participation, and nation-building. During this period, NHRO also strengthened its external engagement by developing associations with international stakeholder platforms including UNODC and UNDESA initiatives, expanding its perspective beyond grassroots interventions towards wider human development discussions.
The Shree Shakti Awards, initiated in 2021, further reflected NHRO's commitment towards recognising individuals contributing to social welfare and community development.
With the immediate phase of pandemic relief gradually reducing, NHRO began strengthening its long-term institutional identity by developing structured programmes focused on awareness, participation, and sustainable impact.
The organisation expanded its focus beyond relief activities through initiatives promoting mental well-being, environmental responsibility, youth engagement, and community awareness. Raagyoga was introduced as an initiative focused on mindfulness, holistic development, and social responsibility, reflecting NHRO's growing emphasis on overall community well-being.
During this phase, NHRO continued strengthening its volunteer networks, outreach activities, and programme-based approach, moving towards a more structured model of social engagement.
2023 marked NHRO's transition towards greater institutional engagement and participation in broader national and international development conversations. The organisation expanded its presence through collaborations, stakeholder engagement, and participation in discussions related to governance, civic responsibility, sustainable development, and public awareness.
Through engagement with platforms connected to initiatives such as C20, B20, and Sustainable Development Goal discussions, NHRO broadened its perspective from community-level interventions towards contributing to larger conversations around inclusive development and responsible citizenship.
During this period, NHRO continued strengthening its organisational networks, including its growing association of legal professionals and social stakeholders, creating the foundation for future public guidance and legal awareness systems.
In 2024, NHRO focused on consolidating its programmes, strengthening institutional systems, and expanding its national presence. The organisation strengthened flagship initiatives including Adhikaar Samvaad, a platform focused on legal literacy, constitutional awareness, and citizen dialogue, while also reviving and expanding the Shree Shakti Awards as a recognition platform for social contributors.
This period also witnessed the strengthening of NHRO's professional networks, including the development of a nationwide Legal Aid and Teleconsultation Support System through an associated network of legal professionals providing legal awareness and guidance support.
Through collaborations with educational institutions, civil society organisations, professionals, and community stakeholders, NHRO continued developing a stronger institutional framework for long-term impact.
By 2025, NHRO entered a new phase focused on institutional growth, structured programmes, and scaling its impact across India. With an expanding presence across states, a growing network of volunteers, professionals, and community representatives, NHRO strengthened its focus on awareness-driven and research-oriented approaches.
The organisation launched major initiatives including Bharat Jagrukta Mission, a national awareness programme focused on constitutional literacy, human rights, cyber safety, women safety, legal awareness, financial literacy, and civic responsibility, along with Amritam, an initiative centred around community well-being, awareness, and social harmony.
During this phase, NHRO further strengthened its institutional associations, including engagement with initiatives connected to the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, while continuing its vision of contributing towards national development and broader global human rights conversations.
With a long-term objective of expanding its reach and creating sustained social impact, NHRO continues its journey towards building an informed, responsible, and empowered society.
